High school students have the opportunity to talk with local scientists and engineers about current cutting-edge ideas in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) in a relaxed and informal setting.
A Teen STEAM Café is a series of free and fun events where teens get to socialize over food and refreshments while learning about science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) topics affecting their lives. EIS launched the Southeast San Diego STEAM Cafe in 2016 for high school students to explore their shared interests in STEAM.
The Teen STEAM Café Leadership team meets regularly during the school year to plan STEAM Cafes for their peers while developing their own leadership skills. Applications to participate in the Leadership Team are available in the Fall.
All high school students are welcome to attend the Cafes and there is no cost to participate. Cafés are typically 1-1.5 hours, held every other month throughout the school year.
