FAQs

What will be taught during the programs?
Students will engage in hands-on activities that explore engineering, geology, biology, environmental science, chemistry, computer science, photography and more. All lessons are taught by STEM undergraduate students, graduate students or certified teachers.
Can I register my student in multiple programs?
Students may only register for one session during each session. There is no limit for Winter, Spring or Summer Break Camps.
When is the registration deadline?
Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the programs reaches capacity, registration will be closed.
Can I add my child to a waitlist if the program is filled?
If the program is filled and/or registration is closed, send an email to info@eisca.org with your contact information, and we will get back to you in the event that we are able to accommodate your student. Scholarship waitlist will only be available to those who applied before the application deadline.
Is EIS able to accommodate requests for a student to be in the same group as a friend/family member?
EIS places students in groups according to grades. This makes it possible for our instructors and education director to develop lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate for students. Therefore, EIS can not guarantee placement of students in specific groups.
Can I change program days/times or camp weeks once I register my student?
If there is space available, you may request to change weeks. A $20/student change fee will be applied to accommodate this request.
I want to cancel my student's registration. Can I get my money back?
EFFECTIVE MARCH 26, 2018 -Refunds will be issued based on when EIS is notified of cancellation, prior to start date.
-1 month or more = Registration fee minus $20 processing fee
-Less than 1 month prior to program start date = 50% refund
- Less than 2 weeks prior to program start date = 25% refund
- Less than 1 week prior to program start date = no refund.
What are the eligibility requirements to apply for a scholarship?
EIS has updated the scholarship application process beginning Spring 2018. Your student(s) can qualify for a scholarship if your family meets the following qualifications: Your family resides in one of the following ZIP codes: 92102, 92105, 92113, 92114, 92115; Your family qualifies for Free and Reduced lunch; Priority will be given to students who have participated in an EIS program before AND/OR has not received scholarships.
How do I apply for a scholarship?
In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete the scholarship application section on the registration form by the deadline. Scholarships are NOT guaranteed. EIS will review all applications and notify scholarship recipients within two weeks via email or phone.
I have multiple students. Can they all apply for a scholarship?
Yes. Families with multiple students that meet the above criteria may apply for a scholarship.
What does the scholarship cost cover?
Scholarships for our Fall, Winter and Spring sessions cover the cost of attendance. Scholarships for our Winter, Spring and Summer Break Camp cover the cost of attendance for ONE WEEK of camp.
Can I apply for multiple scholarships for more than one week of Camp?
You may apply for scholarships for multiple weeks of camp. However, only one scholarship per student will be awarded for Winter, Spring and Summer Break Camp.
