The Teen STEAM Academy (TSA) provides free events where high school teens can socialize over food and refreshments while delving into current issues – aligned with the UN Sustainable Goals – that impact their local community.
For 2026-2027, TSA will be hosting a Paid Internship in which High Schoolers learn from professionals in 4 STEAM Industries. The first of four rotations is the Healthcare Internship from September 1 – October 27.
Over 8 weeks, high school students will collaborate directly with healthcare industry professionals to develop innovative solutions for preventative healthcare. This is one of the most urgent challenges facing our communities today. This is not a classroom exercise. Students will work in teams, think critically, and present their solutions to a panel of healthcare professionals at a culminating showcase on Tuesday, October 27th.
The Teen STEAM Academy is on Tuesdays from 4:30 pm to 6:30pm at EIS.
Outdoor activities are on select weekends and school breaks.
Activities and Field Trips have Included:
Paddleboarding, UCSD Hospital Tour, Ocean and Beach Cleanup, Hiking, Trail Maintenance, Tree Planting, Field Research, Museum Field Trips, Gardening using Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Birch Aquarium field trip, Tide Pool Exploration, and San Diego Estuary field trip.
