Summer Week 2: Wet, Wonderful Wildlife

Category: Marine Biology, Oceanography, Robots, STEM, Summer Camp, Wildlife

This week’s theme is Wet and Wonderful Wildlife! We will be merging nature with science and learning about our environment, the current scientific topics surrounding it, and the many creatures we share it with. Instead of our usual Monday presentation, we will have our guest presenters from Project Wildlife join us on Tuesday along with some of their furry friends. Our Friday field trip expands our teachings to the oceans where students will gain VIP access to Scripps Institute of Oceanography; a facility only accessed by college researchers, scientists, and students. The first stop will be Scripps Pier (closed to the public), followed by a visit to Hubbs Research Aquarium. Students will also have an opportunity to observe the Institute’s biological collection of animals and marine invertebrates. After lunch Students will be able to venture down to the beach with their groups to explore beach geology and conduct a tide pool science survey.
