The Christine Hickman Memorial Fund
for Children’s Equal Access to STEM Education

We honor the life and legacy of our beloved board member Christine Hickman, who passed away on April 18, 2026. We are so grateful that Christine chose to dedicate herself to EIS, contributing so meaningfully to our growth and impact during her years of service.

Christine was deeply committed to equity, to ensuring that children with fewer opportunities had access to the same quality education as their peers. She delighted in seeing our students thrive in EIS programs, and she had a particular gift for seeing each child’s promising future. She reminded us to be inspired by our young students and to tenaciously focus on securing those bright days ahead.

Christine brought wit, wisdom, and generous warmth to every committee and challenging task she took on. Nothing scared her, and somehow she made us all, board, staff, and families alike, more confident and capable as we worked together to bring STEM education excellence and equity to San Diego students. She was kind and encouraging to everyone she encountered, and her presence was felt the moment she walked through the door.

With deep sadness for our loss, and with profound gratitude for Christine Hickman’s service and spirit, we invite you to honor her memory with a contribution supporting the students she championed, students who would otherwise not have access to science, technology, engineering, and math.
