Steps-2-STEM is Back in Session!
We are thrilled to share that Steps-2-STEM is back. What started as a pilot program in 2016 is now reaching it’s 10th anniversary of supporting elementary students. All fourth and fifth-grade students from all 11 Lincoln Cluster Elementary Schools will participate in five weeks and receive 20 hours of hands-on, high-quality STEM education each session. Over the course of each session, students engage in fun, hands-on lessons about chemistry, physics, robotics and computer science.
Thank you to all our partner school teachers and staff, San Diego Unified School District, program partners, and EIS staff.
Girls Take Flight Visits San Diego Gas & Electric
It’s almost graduation time for Girls Take Flight, and these high schoolers have been busy! They are studying for their FAA certification, honing their drone flight skills, working on their keystone project, and learning about careers in STEM. They also received hands-on, real world work experiences at San Diego Gas & Electric with support from Christine Asaro, Project Advisor for UAS & Electric Distribution.
We greatly appreciate the genuine support, mentorship, and funding from San Diego Gas & Electric – a long time supporter of EIS and Girls Take Flight. For years, program participants have gained valuable hands-on experience at the SDG&E Training Center and from SDG&E employees.
