Teen STEAM Café

The Teen STEAM Café (TSC) provides free events where high school teens can socialize over food and refreshments while delving into current issues – aligned with the UN Sustainable Goals – that impact their local community.

For 2025-2026, TSC integrates Step Outside, connecting STEM pathways to nature-based learning through outdoor activities such as hiking, gardening, wildlife observation, kayaking, and beach clean-ups. These hands-on experiences allow participants to apply STEAM concepts in real-world contexts while strengthening collaboration and critical thinking skills.

Through guided reflection, group discussions, and exposure to research protocols such as data collection and analysis, participants develop resilience, mindfulness, and strategies for managing stress and anxiety. This approach supports mental well-being while building practical skills for college readiness and future STEM careers.

If you’re passionate about these ideals and are interested in joining, we encourage you to register.

The Teen STEAM Café is on Tuesdays from 4:00 pm to 5:30pm at EIS.

Outdoor activities are on select weekends and school breaks.

Activity List:

Paddleboarding, Ocean and Beach Cleanup, Hiking, Trail Maintenance, Tree Planting, Field Research, Museum Field Trips, Gardening using Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Birch Aquarium field trip, Tide Pool Exploration, and San Diego Estuary field trip.
